When your professional life, personal life, and passions in life are perfectly aligned there is no way you can be accused of acting.
If each day your actions and behaviours match your words and statements, there is never a concern of being misunderstood.
By leading from the front. Serving your troops. Showing how and living the why, then leadership is a natural outcome.
My colleague Rebecca Shanks is undeniably focused on the issues in life that fuel her. At the top of the list is fairness, opportunity, and inclusivity for women in sport. Whether it be in sport business, the sport system, or sport sponsorship, Rebecca is a champion.
For the past 20 years, Rebecca has led integrated marketing communications plans from strategy through to execution and evaluation, and spent more than half of her career working at Coca-Cola in various roles including managing their marketing assets and sponsorship properties.
By day Rebecca is a Vice President at The T1 Agency. She is one of two women on our five-person Leadership Team. She masterfully guides a team of 13 colleagues. She has had the confidence and trust of blue-chip clients including Visa, Brita, Clorox, AIR MILES, and Manulife.
By night Rebecca is a Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) Board Member. She may be a volunteer in status but she tackles her role with an industriousness zeal. Currently, she is the Nominations Committee Chair and is working to increase the board’s diversity.
By night, day, and everything in between Rebecca is the loving mother of two active youngsters, a ringleader among her friends, and passionate spouse of a globe-trotting entrepreneur.
When Rebecca climbs the stage in Whistler to present at sponsorshipX she really won’t need notes or slides. She will be speaking from both the heart and mind about the current unequal state of support for women in sport. While she won’t need notes or slides, she will have both. To provide you with the facts and insights you want to master this subject and return to your organization to champion this cause.
